Rheology Simulation of Rubber.

The dynamic viscoelastic properties of cross-linked poly-isoprene were calculated using a Primitive Chain Network model (NAPLES of OCTA). The effects of the distribution of cross-linked positions (Fig.1) were evaluated. The molar mass of each molecule was approximately 300k.

The rolling resistance of a tire is related to tanδ (= G''/G'). In case 1 and 3, tanδ shows a low value at low frequencies (Fig.2).

This indicates that the chain end should be cross-linked to ensure a low rolling resistance.
